After Internet abuzz with the news of Nokia discontinuing production of Nokia based phones, now news reports suggests LG is the next big wig to embrace Meego. Though LG not turned up for the MeeGo conference in San Francisco, Meego enthusiasts still thinks LG will role out smart-phones with Meego in future.
For the uninitiated, Meego is a Linux based fully open source Operating System supported by the Linux Foundation aimed at hand helds, net-books, in vehicle infotainment system, tablets. The association with The Linux Foundation, Intel and Nokia gave bright prospects for Meego. It was first announced at Mobile World Congress in February 2010 by Intel and Nokia in a joint press conference.
Later Nokia announced its association with Microsoft and the news that the CEO, Stephen Elop is a former Microsoft employee proved the Meego days at Nokia is nearing completion."In Elop's words, there is no returning to MeeGo, even if the N9 turns out to be a hit," wrote the Finnish daily, the Helsingin Sanomat, which conducted an interview with the Nokia front man.
But the Linux Foundation and Intel are still firm on Meego. With news that LG also joining them recreated the enthusiasm with the Meego lovers. News are ripe that LG GW990 is the first Meego powered smart phone from LG
