Gnome Colors is an indipendent project aimed at providing more eye candy to the Gnome desktop. It is mainly aimed at color customization of themes, icons, GDM logins and splash screens. The even full color-schemes available are; Brave (Blue), Human (Orange), Wine (Red), Noble (Purple), Wise (Green), Dust (Chocolate) and Illustrious (Pink).GNOME-Colors is mostly inspired/based on Tango, GNOME, Elementary, Tango-Generator and many other open-source projects.

Installation

=========

  • To install, extract the downloaded .zip file, and drag and drop the included .tar.gz file into GNOME's Appearance Preferences, or extract it and copy the gnome-* folders to /usr/share/icons as administrator (i.e. sudo nautilus /usr/share/icons in Ubuntu). The gnome-colors-common folder is a required dependency. You MUST install it in order for all the icon sets to work correctly.

OR

  • In Ubuntu, you can use the official PPA repository for easy installation and upgrades. For Ubuntu Karmic Koala, you can simply run apt-get install gnome-colors to install from Ubuntu's official repositories.
